I hear this question asked ALL of the time by some of my Mom friends so I thought I would try to help my fellow Mamas out. Our daughter absolutely loves to read and begs for “one more last one” every night at bedtime. We of course usually give in…because who am I to say no to fostering her love of reading?! She has some tried and true favorites so I am sharing links to all of them below.
A few notes on some of my favorites to read to her…with everything that is going on in the world I believe it is important to teach our children about being kind and accepting of anyone they meet. Whether they are of a different race, religion, have different beliefs/values or whatever it may be…it doesn’t mean you have to agree with what they believe in but there is no need for hate. Which brings me to the book “Strictly No Elephants” by Lisa Mantchev. It teaches a message of acceptance and peace in a way that even younger toddlers can understand.
Another favorite, “Just Perfect” is by a local Charlotte Mom, Kimberly Mohns Roberts. We all know that women tend to struggle with body image and one of my goals as a Mom is to foster confidence and positive body image for my daughter…which is why I love this book. It has a simple message about how each person’s body is “just perfect” and teaches acceptance of yourself despite facing outside criticism.
I’d love to know your favorites or any we should add to our reading list!
